Woes of a dark skinned Asian Girl
I recently made a post voicing my disinterest in and dislike of being told what the “type” (the typical aesthetics one is sexually attracted to) of my significant other(s), in which I used the sentence “Specially if it’s the exact opposite of what I[sic] look like.”
I got asked “Why specially if it’s the opposite of what you look like?”. Other than the obvious which is that it’s not a necessary thing to tell and is slightly insensitive (as unintended as it may be), I have other reason for said statement.
It’s important for you to know that THIS rant is from the point of view of a dark skinned Asian girl and that the “opposite type” i was referring to was the typical white, western look. I’m letting out a lifetime of bull because this issue is complicated so read at your own risk:

RE: MY DEAR AMERICANS
So I read the responses and I’m absolutely appalled at the way you’re treated! Here (in almost all places), you get a fixed pay of at least minimum wage and a tip is supposed to be a treat or bonus.
Where I worked I earned £5.50 an hour, bearing in mind this was 3 years ago, we put all the tip in a jar and shared them equally so that all of us got the same amount of bonus.
I cannot BELIEVE they’ve put something that’s supposed to be your bonus and treat for being a good server towards your pay, and that your employers are allowed to get away with not even making you whole!
How is this allowed in the 21st century? I’m so sad :(
MY DEAR AMERICANS! I need you to clear something up for me:
Are waitresses and waiters really terribly paid in your country? Because I keep seeing people say things like “I rely on my tips to make end meet” and I’m just in shock because I was a waitress for a while here in London and as much as tips are lovely and would be extra money, they weren’t essential to me as such. I’ve also never heard this from any other of my British friends, only my American ones, so yeah
